Finding Santa Fe Street Art

"A Chicano kid grows up with walls of many kinds around him.
When somebody is born into that situation,
there are several things he can do.
He can ignore the walls and sink into apathy.
Or he can become violent and try to blow up the walls.
But there is a third way, a way that people have used for centuries.
And that is to perform a kind of ritual magic
to neutralize the force of the walls by decorating them
with signs, symbols, and art.
Chicano street writers choose this third way."
- Gusmano Cesaretti, Street Writers (1975)

My goal for the next 8 months
is to find and publish as much Santa Fe Street Art as I can find.
Let me know where to find more, and what you think.

Snow Day

Our first experience with a "snow day" in Santa Fe
6.5 inches since last night.
Schools were closed, but with temperatures in the mid 40's
today, most of the snow is gone this evening.
Also my first official day of employment.

I've also posted J's studio's Blog site -
currently only work by the instructor,
but may have student entries in the future.

Olympics

Yesterday I had an early front row seat
to the 2008 Summer Olympics.
A foreign swim team comes to our town
for high altitude practice.
I was able to watch
elite swimmers at work at my pool.
In my front row seat.
I have never seen
that level of swimming in my life.
Wow.
I love this town.

Items of Note

Funny view last night:
1970's VW bug driving down a street in Santa Fe
with an old leather suitcase lashed on the roof rack.
Large label on the side of the suitcase; "I Have Baggage".

Blogger promotion:
Last night I got attacked by my first attempted virus
(and I've been a Bloggerite since 1st of May, 2007),
while logged onto Blogger -
today "Lapito" and I are doing fine, thank you!

Other update:
Today I will be officially licensed
in New Mexico!
Celebration tonight!

A Question for Other Gypsies...

Tonight as J & I drove to his night class;
we discussed the possibility of remaining gypsies -
Traveling when and where our hopes take us.
But, as usually happens, we also had to pause
and consider
where to get
the money
necessary
?
I know there are a few
other
gypsies out there...
I'd love to hear
options about how
other journeys
are creatively financed.

We have many options while here in Santa Fe.
Contract work as a health care worker
pays extremely well...
but usually for a good reason.

Your thoughts?
